MINNEAPOLIS -- A fire in Minneapolis early Saturday claimed the life of an elderly woman.
Firefighters were called about 12:30 a.m. and found the woman on the first floor of the burning building. She was pronounced dead after efforts to revive her failed. She was identified as Evelyn Mary Hussman, 79, of Minneapolis.
Fire department spokeswoman Kristi Rollwagen said the fire, which caused about $25,000 in damage, was ruled accidental and was caused by careless smoking.
