Worker robs theater of $27,000

EDINA, Minn. -- A movie theater employee tied up two managers and took $27,000 from the theater's safe around midnight Wednesday, police said.

The employee, Patrick David Reed, also took a car from one of the managers and drove away from the theater, Megastar Cinema at Southdale Center. The car was later found several miles away in south Minneapolis.

Police said Thursday they believe Reed is now driving a red, 1994 Dodge Intrepid with Minnesota license plate DKR 785.

The managers told police Reed apologized while tying them up but also sprayed them with a chemical irritant.
