#x00A0;Arnold; Gilbert Peterson -- Rochester

ROCHESTER -- The funeral for Arnold Gilbert Peterson will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the American Lutheran Church in Sun City, Ariz. Burial with military honors will be in National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Mr. Peterson, 87, of Sun City, formerly of Rochester, died Wednesday (July 26, 2006).

He was born June 17, 1919, in Calumet, Mich., and later moved to Rochester, where he worked as a salesman and owned his own business. He was a skilled woodworker by trade. He served in World War II and was awarded two Bronze Stars and the Purple Heart. He married Doris A. Petersson, who preceded him in death. He married Eleanor Kirkpatrick. He was a lifetime member of the VFW, the DAV and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. He was a member of American Lutheran Church in Tucson. At Christmas time, he and his wife enjoyed making Norwegian lefse.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen (Larry) Nelson of Blaine, Minn., and Sheila (Roy) Merwin of Grove City, Ohio; 5 grandchildren; four step-grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his two wives, a son and a step-son.

The family prefers memorials to American Lutheran Church of Sun City, Ariz., or Sun Health Hospice.
