GATESHEAD, England (AP) -- Russian Yelena Isinbayeva set a world record in the women's pole vault Sunday, jumping 15 feet, 93⁄4; inches at the Norwich Union Super League meet.
Isinbayeva beat the record of 15-91⁄4; set by American Olympic gold medalist Stacy Dragila in June 2001.
The 21-year-old Isinbayeva set the record on her second attempt.
