DALLAS — The Rochester Community and Technical women’s soccer team is going to enjoy the Texas heat for the next week.
The Yellowjackets earned the right by winning their regional tournament over the weekend, downing North Lake College (Irving, Texas) 3-1 in the championship game.
That qualified RCTC for the national tournament, which like the regional, is also in Dallas. RCTC’s first game is 2:30 p.m. Saturday, against a semifinal foe that is yet to be determined. RCTC will stay in Dallas until that contest.
The Yellowjackets (14-6-1) rode their defense in beating North Lake.

"Our team played the best it has all season," RCTC coach Deb Hare said. "My defense was just unbelievable."
RCTC got two goals from Kayla Fitzsimmons, and one from Kirsten Goeringer. Fitzsimmons scored from 25 yards out on her first goal. Fitzsimmons assisted on Goeringer’s goal.
