MORRIS, Minn. — This year marks the 19th Minnesota Agricultural Ambassador Institute.

Thirty-three young adults representing eight agricultural groups from across Minnesota participated in the three-day conference held in Morris. The MAAI program incorporates hands-on activities with workshops and tours that develop communication and leadership skills to increase agricultural knowledge.

"It is an excellent opportunity for participants to meet new people,'' said Jill Resler, Minnesota Pork Board education director. "They learn how to communicate effectively and how to promote agriculture."

The MAAI participants networked with political leaders and representatives from various farm organizations at a dinner held at Mike O'Leary's home near Morris. They also toured Chippewa Valley Ethanol Company, Wulf Cattle, Riverview Dairy and Case IH.

The presenters were Peter Campion, of the University of Minnesota; Johanna Miller, of the American Farm Bureau; and Mary Milla, a self-employed communications coach.
