WEST UNION, Iowa —The Youth Dairy Classic was held on Sept. 8 atthe Fayette County fairgrounds in West Union. The weekend was full of events for young dairy enthusiasts and their families.
Eighty-three exhibitors and their families from Iowa, Wisconsin and Minnesota took part in the weekend activities.
Saturday night, exhibitors participated in a pizza party with friends, and afitting demonstration and pizza party were among the highlights. Three showmanship classes took place Sunday morning, followed by six dairy breed shows. Alan Graves and Scott Hodgson were on hand atthe show of more than 200 animals.
The 2014 Youth Dairy Classic will be Sept. 7, 2014 in West Union.
The Junior Showmanship winners wereRaegan Kime, Waucoma, first, andLogan Wymer, Epworth, second. In Intermediate Showmanship Cole Kruse, Dyersville, was first and Jessica Stempfle, Maynard was second. Senior Showmanship winners were Scott Stempfle, Maynard, and Michael Lyons, Castalia.

Supreme Junior Champion was an Ayrshire senior calf, Stein-Bush Reality Dazzle, exhibited by Natalie Schleicher of Columbus, Wis. Reserve Supreme Junior Champion was a Jersey senior calf, Edgebrook Tequila Madison-ET, exhibited by Brad Arthur, Maynard. Supreme Champion was a Jersey cow, KJF Lacys Centurion Lira-ET, exhibited by Ashley Bushman, Calmar. The Reserve Supreme Champion was an Ayrshire cow, Sharwards Calimero Megan, exhibited by Scott Wolf, Epworth.
