Tony Brown and Alissa Mrazek, members of the Rochester DanceSport Team, competed in the 2006 Heartland Classic North Central Regional USA DanceSport Championship in Indianapolis, Ind., April 22-23.

Tony and Alissa took first place in the Cabaret Championship and first place in the Youth Silver and Youth Novice Divisions of American Rhythm Dances (Cha Cha, Rumba, Swing, Bolero, Mambo) and American Smooth Dances (Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Viennese Waltz).

They will compete in the National USA DanceSport Competition in San Jose, Calif., in August.


On Monday, June 12, Sertoma 700 will host the 10th Annual Sertoma Youth Golf Sportsmanship Tournament. Boys and Girls ages 9-12 will participate in a golf tournament focused on golf etiquette and good sportsmanship.


The event will be held at Soldier's Field Golf Course with an 8:30 AM shotgun start. Members of the Sertoma 700 Service Club will act as golf etiquette chaperones with each foursome.

Soccer World, Rochester, is accepting applications for its Summer Sports Camps. Each week there will be a new sports theme introducing campers to the basics and advancing by week's end. Campers and parents can expect the morning program to focus on the weekly sport, followed by an afternoon of crazy fun! Campers can choose to attend a half day or full day. Minnesota Twins Youth Trainings Camps are taking place for the first time this summer, with one of the camps being held in Rochester on July 10-12.

The camps provide Upper Midwest youth with quality baseball and softball instruction. Top; college and high school coaches will provide daily instruction, and Twins great Rod Carew will provide a half-day of batting instruction at each of the camps.

Current Twins players, coaches, scouts and alumni will also participate as guest speakers and instructors.

A total of six camps will be offered this summer. In addition to the Rochester camp, they will be held in Fargo, Burnsville, St. Cloud, Roseville and Woodbury.

The camps are open to youths 8-18. Registration is $200 per participant.

Members of the Med City Aquatics youth swim club, Rochester, recently swam in a meet in Red Wing. The focus of the meet was more on technical correctness and less on speed. Med City brought home a second-place team trophy despite losing a few swimmers to illness and other activities that came up last minute.


Three MCA Relays took first place honors: The 12 &; Under 200 Medley Relay team of Ahna Buntrock, Kailey Ganskop, Milly Sauber, and Mercedes Erpelding.

The team; of Kallyn Barkey, Allison Schumacher, Paige Tierney, and Hannah Ganskop teamed up to win both the 200 Medley and 200 Free relays in the 10 &; Under division.

Kallyn Barkey swam her first ever 100 Breast, 100 Fly, and 200 IM races achieving new B times in each.

Abby Tierney, Kaite Bohn, Emmy Buntrock, and Allie Volcheck teamed for a 4th place finish in the 200 Free Relay.

Ahna Buntrock swam new B times in the 50 Fly and 500 Free, dropping over 24 seconds in the 500.

Erin Caflisch swam her first ever 200 Butterfly and 1000 Free, snaring a B time in both events.

Stephane Chartier achieved several new best times and new time standards, including a 24 second drop in the 200 Breaststroke.

Madeline Faubion picked up three new C times and dropped time in every event.

Hannah Ganskop picked up three new best times.

Kailey Ganskop performed her first ever 100 Fly.

Claire Manlove picked up new C times in two events and a B time in the 100 Free.

Logan Manlove swam his first 1000 Free in a B Time and also picked up two new C times.

Marcus Pfeifer garnered a C time in the 100 Free for the first time.

Michaela Pfeifer swam three new best times and one new C time.

Delaney Shin swam to a new C time in her 50 Free.

Paige Tierney swam a brilliant 100 Fly to pick up her first A time in the event.

Allie Volcheck dropped time in three races.


Adamson Motors and Uniroyal Tire has donated funds and equipment valued at more than $5,550 to the Zumbro Valley Recreational League as part of a nationwide youth soccer program.
