Cell phones valued at approximately $10,000 were stolen Sunday from a Verizon Wireless store in southeast Rochester, according to police.
Approximately 24 cell phones were taken during business hours, with employees suspecting a large group of males and females who entered the store Sunday morning, according to Capt. Brian Winters.
Employees took inventory of the phones in the morning and then again at closing, not noticing that the phones were missing until the end of the day. The store is in the 100 block of 20th Street Southeast.
Police can't be certain that the group was responsible for taking the phones, Winters said, but employees suspect that some members of the group distracted them while others stole phones.
