Rochester police question groups at Foster-Arend Park Tuesday after getting a report of a gun being drawn.

A day at the beach turned into an arrest and likely charges Tuesday at Foster-Arend Park, police say.

Two groups of youths were at the Rochester beach when a 17-year-old allegedly tried to start a fight with an 18-year-old, the report says. The 18-year-old refused to fight, said Capt. John Sherwin, and the juvenile pulled out what appeared to be a gun.

A beach security officer was called over, the report says, and the officer detained the juvenile.

The gun turned out to be a CO2 BB gun, Sherwin said, "but it'll still get you charged with a felony if you point it at somebody and say 'I'm going to kill you.' It looks real."

The 17-year-old was arrested and taken to the juvenile detention center, where he faces charges of second-degree assault and terroristic threats, Sherwin said.
