After 35 years building his business, Virgil Nelson is stepping down and turning over Virgil’s Auto Clinic to his five sons.
Voters approved by a slim two-vote margin a $260,000 bond issue to finance an addition to the Stewartville Fire Department Hall. The vote on the bond issue was 149-147.

Rochester’s gas price war broke out again this week and every dealer in town lowered their price by 10 cents. The lowest price in town is 23.9 cents a gallon for regular gasoline.

1936 — 75 years ago
A post of the Veterans of Foreign Wars will open in Zumbrota. Veterans from Zumbrota, Pine Island and Cannon Falls will comprise the new post.
The Rochester Junior Chamber of Commerce, with approximately 45 members attending, conducted its monthly and dinner meeting at the Martin Hotel.
