CLAREMONT — Two people were injured in a rollover accident on a two-lane section of U.S. 14 between Dodge Center and Claremont on Tuesday afternoon.
A westbound SUV driven by Esta Lopez, 32, of Claremont, veered into the oncoming lane and then into a ditch, rolling several times, according to a Minnesota State Patrol report. Lopez was taken by a Dodge Center ambulance to Saint Marys Hospital in Rochester with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.
Feliciano Lopez, 27, of Dodge Center, who was a passenger in the SUV, also suffered serious, but not life-threatening, injuries, according to the report. He was taken by Mayo Clinic helicopter to Saint Marys Hospital.
Firefighters had to extricate the occupants from the SUV, a process that took about 20 minutes. The rollover, reported at 4:24 p.m., happened between Dodge County Road 5 and Claremont, according to an eyewitness. The report says that both had their seat belts fastened.
