Alleged sex trafficker arrested

Authorities have arrested a 41-year-old man they say has been trafficking women for sex.

The investigation was led by members of the narcotics division and the Rochester Street Crimes Unit, who'd learned at least one woman working as a prostitute in the area the last few days was being trafficked by the suspect, said Capt. John Sherwin.

They found the 36-year-old victim, who was "fully cooperative," Sherwin said, telling investigators she was forced to give the suspect half of everything she made. She'd been "recruited" by the man and another female, also believed to be a victim of the trafficker, the report says.

Law enforcement executed the search warrant about 1 p.m. Wednesday at 844 W. Center St., No. 3.

The man — who is also suspected of dealing heroin — was home, though the search didn't turn up any drugs, Sherwin said.

He did have a stun gun, the report says, which will likely add another charge when he's arraigned.

The Post-Bulletin typically doesn't identify suspects until they've been charged.
