MILLVILLE — A 55-year-old motocross rider died Saturday at the Spring Creek Motocross track when he went off a jump and crashed to the ground.
It appeared that Dale Joseph Howard, of Andover, Minn., died from the impact, said Wabasha Sheriff's Chief Deputy Joe Modjeski. The call about the accident came in at about 4 p.m., he said.
"He hit a jump and went airborne and was thrown against the dirt track," Modjeski said. "Bystanders and medical staff on scene initiated CPR right away and Lake City Ambulance responded."
A Mayo One helicopter crew also responded to the accident. They pronounced Howard dead shortly after arriving on scene.
A call Wednesday morning to Spring Creek Motocross was not returned.
