Construction of the first phase of Wyndmark Apartments, the largest new apartment community to be built in the city in several years, is nearing completion. The project, once finished, will include 62 luxury two-bedroom apartments near IBM at 48th Street and 16th Avenue Northwest.
Chuck Canfield, owner of Shakey’s Pizza Restaurant in Rochester, has been elected as director of the national Shakey’s Franchised Dealer Association.

Work is under way in Mantorville to restore the old stone building at Wasioja, originally built in 1857 as a law office and used as a Civil War recruitment station. It was 100 years ago that students at a Mantorville seminary enlisted there as a group and became part of the 2nd Minnesota Infantry under Col. James George, which turned the tide of battle at Chicamauga.
The annual immunization clinicfor tetanus, polio, diphtheria, whooping cough and small pox will be at the St. Charles school. All kindergartners and students in grades 3, 6, 9 and 12 are urged to participate.

The WPA transferred 75 men and trucks from the Silver Lake project to help clear snow from three miles of the road to Simpson.
More than 300 people attended the Minneapolis Brewing Co.’s annual Grain Belt party at the Rochester Armory. Moving pictures about the making of beer were shown.
