Another young woman approached by man

For the third time in a month, Rochester police are investigating a report of a female who is walking or jogging being approached by a man.

Police Capt. Brian Winters said the latest incident occurred on a bike path in Thompson Mill Race Park in the 1400 block of Third Avenue Northwest about 6 p.m. Thursday.

A 15-year-old girl was walking on the path south of the dam when she said a man approached her on his bicycle and started to talk to her. She said he got off his bike and asked her name, then tried to kiss her. About that time, he saw another woman approaching on the bike path, got on his bike and rode away. When told what happened, the other woman walked the teen to the roadway and they called police.

Winters said the suspect matches the general description of the man involved in the first incident at Silver Lake park. He is described as about 20 years old, Hispanic, 5 feet 8 inches tall, with an average build and short black hair. He was wearing glasses, a white T-shirt, and jeans. Winters said the description does not match that of the suspect from the second incident, along a southeast city sidewalk.
