Area business makes flood-relief donation

Mankato-based AgStar Financial Services was scheduled to announce today a $25,000 donation to the Southeast Minnesota Red Cross for flood relief in southern Minnesota.

"Our clients, neighbors and employees live and work in the areas impacted," says a news release from Ag Star, a financial-services cooperative that serves 69 counties in Minnesota and Wisconsin. "These communities are very significant to us, and it is our priority to help them in their time of need."

The Southeast Minnesota Red Cross "has the processes in place to ensure the dollars are used to best benefit those affected," the release says.

AgStar challenged other organizations and corporations to match the donation.

The cooperative is part of the national Farm Credit System and has 600 employees. AgStar has programs in loans, leases, crop insurance, tax services, accounting, consulting and rural home mortgages.
