Four projects in southeastern Minnesota have received Historical and Cultural Heritage Grants from the Minnesota Historical Society .
The new grants are among 59 grants of up to $7,000 each awarded in 29 counties across the state. The grants are funded through the Legacy Amendment. The area projects are:
• Wykoff, $6,500 for a structural analysis of the Mitchell Saloon, operated by the Wykoff Historical Society.
• Red Wing, $6,900 to compile resources on the history of the Red Wing Public Library.
• Owatonna, $5,600 to develop a walking tour and oral history of the Minnesota State Public School Orphanage.

• Winona, $2,000 to prepare the nomination of the Chicago, Milwaukee and St. Paul Railway station to the National Register of Historic Places.
In this latest round of funding requests, the Minnesota Historical Society received 481 applications requesting $10.5 million in grants and approved 253 applications for $5 million. More grants will be awarded later this year.
