WINONA — A Winona man was charged Sept. 10 in Winona County District Court with going into a woman's apartment, asking her for sex and assaulting her when she refused.
Joseph Justin Martin, 33, of 456 E. Sarnia St. No. 15, was charged with first-degree burglary-assault within, first-degree burglary in an occupied dwelling, domestic assault-inflicting bodily harm, domestic assault-intent to cause fear, and violation of an order for protection. The first two charges are felonies, the other three are misdemeanors. Bail was set at $20,000 with conditions, $50,000 without conditions.
The complaint alleges he kept contacting a woman Sept. 8, despite a court order telling him not to. The woman hung up on him and turned off the phone.
She woke up when Martin was in her bedroom, kissing her and seeking sex. She asked him to leave, and he "became enraged," grabbed the back of her head, punched her in the head and face, and fled, according to court documents.
