Area man elected president of state fair

KENYON — Jim Foss of rural Kenyon was elected Jan. 15 to a one-year term as president of the Minnesota State Fair during the 153rd annual meeting of the Minnesota State Agricultural Society.

Foss has been involved in the Goodhue County Fair for about 50 years and the state fair for 10 years. Last year, he was honored with the International Association of Fairs and Expositions Heritage Award. He was also the Goodhue County Citizen of the Year in 2011.

Foss is a retired farmer.
