Arrests made in Sunday shooting

Two arrests have been made in a series of incidents that culminated in a shot being fired Sunday night.

A 22-year-old and a 19-year-old were arrested Thursday; charges are expected as early as today, said Lt. Mike Sadauskis of the Rochester Police Department.

"This was a multi-incident event," he said, which began with a fight at a party held at an apartment at 840 21st Ave. SE the night before the shooting.

Multiple people were assaulted, Sadauskis said, but police weren't called.

The next day, several people — including the two suspects — returned to the apartment for a confrontation, the report says. No one answered their knocks, but as they left the area, they saw a man they believed had been there the night before.

The 19-year-old victim told police that as he was driving toward the apartment complex, a "green foreign car" had stopped in the road.

The driver got out and yelled at him about the previous night's assault, Capt. John Sherwin said earlier this week, but the victim said he had no idea what the man was talking about.

The suspect got back into the car and circled around to 8 1/2 Street, the report says, stopped again, and a passenger in the car pointed a handgun out the window and fired one shot, which missed the victim.

The vehicle then left the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, Sadauskis said, and more arrests are possible.

The Post-Bulletin typically doesn't identify suspects until they've been charge.
