Minneapolis artist David Geister, who has painted a new picture of Minnesota troops at the battle of Gettysburg, is the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Rochester Civil War Roundtable.
The meeting is at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the History Center of Olmsted County, 1195 West Circle Drive SW, Rochester. The public is invited.
Geister's painting shows the famous charge of the 1st Minnesota Regiment on the second day of Gettysburg battle. Many historians credit that charge with saving the Union cause at Gettysburg. Geister will talk about his research and the actual creation of the painting. He has illustrated several picture books, including books for children.
