A 20-year-old Austin man was arrested and taken to jail for a weapons offense.
Just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday, the man reportedly placed a 9mm semiautomatic pistol in the back of his pickup, which was parked in the 2100 block of Sixth Avenue Northwest, according to Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger. The gun contained an empty magazine but did have a live round in the chamber, according to the report.
Officers initially responded to a report that the man was chasing two other men down the street.
A copy of the report has been forwarded to the Mower County Attorney's Office for review.
