A 7-year-old boy suffered burns after "his 14-year-old cousin put hand sanitizer on his back and then lit it on fire," said Austin Police Chief Brian Krueger.
Police responded to the report at Mayo Clinic Health System in Austin when the victim was brought in at about 7:50 p.m. Tuesday, according to the police report.
Information about the severity of the boy's burns was not yet available, Krueger said.
Police are working with the families and Mower County Human Services, and the case was turned over to detectives for investigation, Krueger said.
