Bike swap planned for May 3

If you have a rarely used bicycle hanging in the garage or tucked away in the basement, now is your chance to make a bit of money and also help a youth mentor program.

The Pata de Perro Bike Club Bike Swap will be 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 3 in the People's Food Co-op parking lot, 519 1st Ave. S.W., Rochester.A $10 donation will be collected to sell a bike, and proceeds benefit the club.

The Pata de Perro Bike Club is a youth mentor program that teaches young people how to repair used, donated bicycles. Through the Earn-a-Bike program, children can own a bicycle by achieving goals such as attending weekly bike club workshops, participating in Saturday group rides, improving school attendance or grades, improving physical fitness, or performing community service.

All bike swap sales will be seller to buyer direct. Unclaimed bicycles after 2:30 p.m. will become the property of Pata de Perro.
