The Rochester School Board Tuesday approved a $330,000 project to install new stadium lighting at John Marshall High School stadium.
The stadium light replacement project was part of a list of alternative facilities approved by the board last June as part of the district's major maintenance plan. The plan was revised to align with the final levy, which was approved on Dec. 9, 2014. The board accepted the bid submitted by Ryan Electric of Rochester.
The bid by Ryan Electric turned out to be about $90,000 less than the $421,000 cost estimated by district officials. The project includes design, replacement of light standards and all lighting. The project also includes boring under the field to the south side for conduct.
When asked about the age of the lighting poles, Scott Sherden, the district's director of facilities, said they were there when he was a student and were the original poles.
The board voted 7-0 to accept the bid by Ryan. The project will be completed during the summer.
