Luke Bower, son of James and Susan Bower of Rochester and a member of Troop 27 of Rochester, has earned the Eagle rank, the highest in Boy Scouts of America.
In the troop, he has been patrol leader and assistant chaplain.
For his eagle project, he coordinated the building of bookshelves for the Upendo Children's Orphanage in Tanzania while spending the summer there with his family. He also organized a book drive in Rochester and collected more than 2,000 books that were sent to the orphanage as well as to groups here and in Minneapolis.
He is a senior at Mayo High School, where he is an AP scholar with honors, a National Merit Scholar commended, and involved in drama, South Town Singers and school choir, Model UN, speech and the philosophy club.
