The Boys & Girls Club of Rochester will conduct its fifth annual Chili Challenge from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester. The event will feature more than 30 chili dishes to sample, and will include live music and many activities for children and adults.
The chili teams will compete in these categories: The Real Deal, Anything Goes, Vegetarian, People's Choice, Kids' Choice and Spicy Spirit. Activities will include a giant inflatable, henna tattoos, apple decorating, minnow races, a dunk tank and a photo booth. Tickets are available online at www.bgcchilichallenge.org or at the northwest Rochester Boys & Girls Club at $12 for adults and $7 for kids 6-12; children under 6 are free.
A new event that will follow the Chili Challenge is called The Cool Down. It will include a poker run starting at 8 p.m. Participants will receive a punched playing card for beverages at locations including The Tap House, Thyme Restaurant, Legends, Top Shots and Kathy's Pub. Prizes will be given. Tickets for the Cool Down are $15, or $25 for both the chili tasting and The Cool Down.
