Rochester Mayor Ardell Brede has been appointed by Gov. Mark Dayton to a four-year term on the State Arts Board.
In his third term as mayor, Brede is a longtime supporter of the arts. As past president of the League of Minnesota Cities, his key focus was on the arts. He appointed the city's first Arts Council and initiated the city's annual Artstoberfest celebration. Previous to his term as mayor, he was president of Rochester Civic Music.
Brede said he was pleased with the appointment and will work to represent Greater Minnesota well. His term runs through Jan. 5, 2015.
