Brownsdale men arrested for taking scrap metal

Two Brownsdale men have been charged with theft after they were arrested early Tuesday morning for allegedly stealing items from a business in Waltham.

Christopher John Marcks and Christopher William Boelter, both 19, each face one count of gross misdemeanor theft.

According to the Mower County Sheriff's Department, a witness called law enforcement after seeing two men in a pickup taking items from Anderson Coatings.

The witness got a partial license plate number before the vehicle drove north out of town, the report says.

An officer with the Dodge County sheriff's department stopped the vehicle; both Marcks and Boelter admitted to stealing items from Anderson Coatings, as well as from an antique tractor parts shop in Waltham.

Deputies learned there was no forced entry at the businesses; at least $500 worth of scrap metal was taken.

"It looks like they would come and go as they pleased, helping themselves," said Mower County Sheriff Terese Amazi. "I think they've been at it for a while."

No court date has been set for the men.
