The Olmsted County Sheriff's Office has yet another report of theft to add to the rash of copper and scrap burglaries committed in the Rochester area in recent months.
Reported to have happened sometime between May 11 and May 23, burglars broke into an unoccupied house on the 2600 block of Viola Road Northeast and ripped out all of the home's copper piping, as well as wire, sinks and other items, according to the sheriff's department.
Materials stolen and damage to the home totaled about $5,000.
An employee from Premier Bank, which owns the house due to foreclosure, found the results of the burglary, the sheriff's office said.
