Burglary, fire result in estimated $30,000 loss

STEWARTVILLE — Fire and law enforcement officials are investigating an apparent burglary and arson of a construction trailer early Monday.

A passerby's 911 call sent Stewartville firefighters about 5:15 a.m. to the 9800 block of Olmsted County Road 20 Southeast, where they discovered an 18-foot construction trailer fully engulfed in flames, said Larry Mueller, assistant fire chief.

When the fire was extinguished, the side door was discovered broken open and several tools were missing, the report says.

According to Mueller, the preliminary loss estimate, including the stolen tools, destroyed trailer and scorching on the house that was under construction, was set at $30,000.
