ST. PAUL — A major business group and a big labor union were scheduled to come to the Capitol today to promote their interests.
The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce held its annual "Business Day at the Capitol" event in downtown St. Paul. The chamber opposes higher state taxes and wants state leaders to cut spending and streamline government. The business people expected to hear from legislative leaders and Gov. Tim Pawlenty.
The Minnesota Building and Construction Trades Council had scheduled a rally on the Capitol steps later in the day to push for a large package of construction projects and other moves to create jobs.
Three of the four legislative leaders were scheduled to speak to the union audience.
