Byron burglary nets $60,000 in watches, jewelry

BYRON — Law enforcement is investigating a residential burglary that reportedly resulted in the theft of more than $60,000 worth of jewelry.

The incident occurred between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in the 1400 block of Belvoir Lane Northeast in Byron, said Det. Kirby Long of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.

The burglar gained entry by prying open a lower level sliding glass door, he said; the items — including 10 watches — were in a jewelry box in a bedroom.

There are no known suspects, Long said.
