Rochester police and firefighters work at the scene of a crash Saturday in the 4500 block of Arbor Drive Northwest. A car plowed into the house just before noon, leaving a large hole, visible at left.

A 71-year-old Rochester woman lost control of her car and plowed into a northwest Rochester house Saturday morning, sending the driver to the hospital with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.

Rochester police were alerted to the incident in the 4500 block of Arbor Drive Northwest at 11:50 a.m. Investigators say the car was heading east when it left the road, drove 35 feet through the front lawn, and crashed into the south side of the house. About three-quarters of the 2000 Honda Accord entered the "living area" of the house, officials said.

Police say they are still trying to determine what caused the driver to lose control of the car.

"It's still being investigated as far as why she left the roadway," said Rochester Police Sgt. Tom Faudskar.

Four people were inside the house at the time of the crash. A 9-year-old boy who was on the computer when the car hit the house was "slightly injured," but not did not require medical treatment, Faudskar said.
