Catholic schools in Rochester receive record gift

Rochester Catholic Schools and Lourdes Foundation recently received an anonymous estate gift of $879,000, the largest such gift for tuition assistance in the history of either organization.

Lourdes Foundation, at the request of the donor, received $367,000 for Lourdes High School students. The remaining $512,000 was designated to Rochester Catholic Schools and will be used throughout the RCS system to aid needy students.

"The generosity of this kind donor will positively affect the lives of Rochester Catholic Schools students for many years to follow," said RCS president Denny Nigon.

Rochester Catholic Schools serves 1,775 students in preschool through grade 12.
