Charges expected against woman after crash

BYRON — A woman who crashed her car into a cornfield Saturday morning faces felony charges after the officer who discovered her also allegedly found drugs in the vehicle.

A deputy on patrol discovered the 18-year-old in the car in the 7500 block of Country Club Road Southwest about 7:30 a.m. Saturday, said Det. Kirby Long of the Olmsted County Sheriff's Office.

According to the report, the deputy saw a marijuana pipe on the floor of the vehicle. A further search allegedly turned up multiple prescription medications, methamphetamine and acid, among other drugs.

Law enforcement is requesting charges of fifth-degree drug possession and fourth-degree controlled substance sales, Long said.

The woman suffered minor injuries. She was taken to a Rochester hospital where she was seen and released.
