Two promotions within the Austin Fire Department were unanimously approved by the Austin City Council at its meeting Monday.
At the recommendation of Fire Chief Mickey Healey, Tom Schulte and Terry Petersen will be promoted from fire engineer to fire commander rank.
The Fire Civil Service Commission, city administration and Healey worked to conduct the promotional process for the two commander positions, which were approved by the city council. Three individuals completed the five-step process on Sept. 28. Those steps included seniority, education, written scenario, written test and interviews.
The Fire Civil Service Commission evaluated the scores and certified the rankings of the three individuals.
