A combined Earth Fest Climate March and March for Science will take place Saturday, starting at the Peace Plaza in downtown Rochester.
The Earth Fest Climate March is intended to draw attention to our changing climate, while the March for Science is part of a nationwide movement to highlight the importance of science and especially funding for scientific research.
The main March for Science will be held in Washington, D.C., with 517 satellite marches also scheduled around the world, primarily in North America and Europe.
The Rochester march begins at 11 a.m., proceeds to the Zumbro River near the Rochester Art Center and returns to the Peace Plaza for a rally at noon.
The March for Science is being advertised as a nonpartisan event, and local organizers are encouraging participants to carry signs with positive messages.
