Clothing donations to aid veterans causes

Clothing donation bins have been placed at eight locations in Rochester and the surrounding region to benefit veterans causes in southeastern Minnesota.

The bins are placed by Mayo/Hiawatha Chapter 28 of the Minnesota Disabled American Veterans organization. The bins are bright green, labeled "DAV," and located at these spots:

• In Rochester at Barlow Plaza, the Rochester Athletic Club, Sam's Club and VFW Post 1215.

• In Dodge Center, Kasson and Pine Island at the American Legions.

• In Zumbrota at the VFW.

Please donate clothes and shoes only, preferably in bags.

Money earned by DAV Chapter 28 from the sale of donated clothing and shoes will be used to support veterans programs in the region. Past programs supported by the chapter include Honor Flight, Operation Hometown Gratitude, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, Operation Welcome Home, Wounded Warrior Weekends at Ironwood Springs, Vets Visits on TV, and others.

A portion of the money also goes to support Minnesota DAV programs, such as the statewide county transportation programs.

Questions about the donation bins or the DAV organization can be directed to Rich Daly at rdalyx5@yahoo.com or (507) 884-6250.
