The master plan for the Stagecoach State Trail, which would eventually connect Owatonna to the Douglas Trail near Rochester, is up for public comment.
The Department of Natural Resources has scheduled three open houses this month to explain the plan and get feedback. People can comment through Sept. 2.
The DNR has not bought any land for the trail, nor has it determined precise alignments. The project is divided into seven sections: Douglas State Trail near Rochester to Olmsted County Road 5; County Road 5 to Mantorville; Mantorville to Wasioja; Wasioja to Dodge Center; Dodge Center to Claremont; Claremont to Rice Lake State Park; and Rice Lake State Park to Owatonna.
The plan will guide development and management of the trail. You can see the plan at www.mndnr.gov.
Open houses will be 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.:
