Law firm Alderson, Ondov, Leonard & Sween,105 E. Oakland St., marks its 100th year of service in Austin.

The Soldiers Field Golf Course is open for play. Daily greens fee is $1.50.

Maynard Gray, of Plainview, was named winner of the eighth annual soil conservation contest. The Wabasha farmer was picked from a field of 1,100 farmers.

1937 — 75 years ago

Plans to begin construction of the Soldiers Memorial Field clubhouse were announced as the golf season opened. The cost of the project is fixed at $8,194.Twenty WPA workers will be assigned to work on the clubhouse, and 10 other WPA workers will begin quarrying stone for it.
