The Austin City Council passed a resolution 6-0, with one abstention, to acquire permanent easements and a temporary easement from Hormel Foods Corp. for the North Main Phase 9 Flood Control Project.
Easements will include a road-raise on Hormel Drive and berm construction. The project will be built east of the Austin Skate Park and will complete an extension of the previously constructed Phase 8.
Areas of the berm construction intrude onto the Hormel property on both the north and south sides of Hormel Drive. The city has worked with Hormel in regard to the temporary and permanent easements for the berm construction.
