County, city begin road repair projects

Olmsted County and city of Rochester road construction projects will cause some lane closures and traffic delays over the next few months.

County Road 129 to be closed

Traffic on Olmsted County Road 129 between County Road 7 and County Road 32 will be limited to one lane from July 22 to Aug. 22, as crews work on the first stage of a $9.9 million bituminous reclamation and overlay project, according to a county news release.

From Sept. 14 to Oct. 23, crews will also complete bituminous reclamation and overlay on County Road 7 from Trunk Highway 30 to Trunk Highway 52, County Road 3 from County Road 4 to County Road 14, and County Road 16 from County Road 1 to Trunk Highway 52.

Work will take place one lane at a time, with flaggers restricting traffic to the other lane. Motorists should anticipate delays and seek alternate routes if possible, according to Olmsted County.

East Circle Drive lanes to close

Beginning July 27, southbound traffic on County Road 22 (East Circle Drive) between County Road 33 (Broadway Avenue North) and County Road 9 (Collegeview Road) will be restricted to one lane as crews complete an $872,000 concrete rehabilitation project.

Work will be completed one lane at a time, with motorists restricted to the other lane. The project should be complete by August 28.

Drivers should expect delays and seek alternate routes if possible. As always, motorists should drive with caution in work zones and never enter an area blocked off with cones or barriers.

City streets to be seal coated

The city of Rochester's Infrastructure Maintenance Division and contractor Pearson Brothers will seal coat streets throughout the city over the next few weeks.

Affected streets will be posted for sweeping and flushing, and again at later dates for chip sealing and fog sealing. During both sealing processes hot emulsion will be placed on the street surface. Motorists are asked to give the crews ample room while they are working and not drive through these areas until the work is complete, according to the city's Public Works Department. Weather permitting, chip seal will be applied July 24-31, fog seal will be applied July 30-31, and lane striping will follow 10 days after fog sealing is complete.
