Damaging storms move through northern Minnesota

BEMIDJI — Electricity has been restored to nearly all Otter Tail Power customers affected by the severe thunderstorms that blew through northwestern Minnesota early Friday.

Company spokeswoman Cris Kling says about 1,800 customers lost power about 2 a.m. in Nymore and Bemidji (behm-IHD'-jee), but that was restored by about 8 a.m. Crews repaired scattered outages throughout the day.

Beltrami County emergency government officials say some of the worst damage was in Bemidji, where several unoccupied cars were hit by falling trees.

Assistant Emergency Management Director Christopher Muller says there are reports of isolated flash flooding.
