Darrell Thompson named to All-Big Ten in 1986

Two Rochester pianists, Kirsten Skogerson and Jennifer Hu, will perform in an honors recital at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

Darrell Thompson, Minnesota Gophers freshman running back from Rochester John Marshall High School, was named to the 1986 Associated Press All-Big Ten football team.

Plans for a new book on the Mayo brothers were recently announced by author Jurgen Thorwald, medical writer and biographer, whose works have been translated into 18 languages.

1936 — 75 years ago

Twenty-five thousand associates in all stores, warehouses and offices of the J.C. Penney  will receive two weeks extra pay as a Christmas bonus. In the Rochester store, 40 associates will share in this bonus.

Mrs. G.R. Gelatt, wife of the county sheriff, will prepare turkey dinners for the 13 men who will be in the county jail over the holiday.
