The seventh annual Art Show and Sale will kick off Rochesterfest. More than 30 artists will display pastels, water colors, oils and pen-and-ink drawings.
A series of ceremonies is planned as a caravan of veterans leave the east side of the state and another leaves the west side of the state, both on Interstate 90 to meet in Blue Earth, to dedicate the roadway as Am-Vets Memorial Highway.
1963 – 50 years ago
At the annual IBM family picnic, some 2,000 gallons of potato salad, 6,000 hot dogs, 8,600 hamburgers and 10,200 ice cream bars were served.

The Rochester High School graduating class of 1913 held its 50th reunion at the Kahler Hotel. Twenty of the 30 living class members made it. There were 44 in the original class.
With beautiful weekend weather, nearly 4,200 persons attended the annual flea market held at Fugle's Mill near Simpson.
1938 – 75 years ago
Drs. William J. and Charles H. Mayo of Rochester are scheduled to attend the sixty-second annual reunion of Dodge County Old Settlers association in Mantorville.
One of three "Seeing Eye" dogs in Minnesota will be in Rochester today with his master, Joe DeBeer of Minneapolis. Mr. DeBeer's dog is named "Rin" and they will be presenting products of the Minneapolis Society for the Blind at the C.F. Massey store.
