1991 – 25 years ago
• Karen French of Nelson, New Zealand, is the new Miss Minnesota Bible College after a ceremony at Willow Creek Junior High.
• A new policy for Rochester would allow the police force to hire more minorities; Police Chief Pat Farrell said he would like a change that would allow the civil service commission to review more applications of minorities and women.
1966 – 50 years ago
• An open house will be held at Coffman Hall followed by a public concert in Central Auditorium, featuring the 100-voice RJC choir, as part of the 50th anniversary celebration of Rochester Junior College. The two-year college will also officially change its name to the Rochester State Junior College.

• Rochester hired three new coaches for next season. They are Al Wold, who will be the John Marshall head basketball coach; Jim Duea, who will be head track and cross country coach for JM and Lorne Grosso, who will head the hockey program at Mayo.
1941 – 75 years ago
• Two farm girls attained the Spring Valley High school 1941 graduating class honors. The two, Meryl Weise and Barbara Sample have been named co-valedictorians with scholastic averages of 95.
• The Rochester city council purchased two police cars for the police department for $1,054 with a trade-in. The bid for two Mercury Fords cars by Universal Motors was accepted.
1916 – 100 years ago
• The chemistry classes at Rochester High School have organized into a club for the purpose of making a more detailed study of some of the branches of this science.
• The public meeting of the Ford Literary society will be held this evening at the Rochester high school auditorium. A debate will be one of the features on the program. An admission fee of one cent will be charged.
