Marvin Mikesh, a science teacher at John Adams Junior High School, has become the second John Adams science teacher in two years to win a Presidential Award for Excellence in Science Teaching.
Rochester Technical College will celebrate its 20th anniversary with an open house at the college. RTC began operations at its present site with the 1969-70 school year.

About 100 youths and young men from seven southeastern Minnesota counties were enrolled into the CCC and most of them will be going to Lanesboro.
Invitations are being sent out for the celebration of the golden jubilee of the founding of the Winona Catholic Diocese. The earliest record of the coming of the Catholic missionaries to the territory dates from 1672.
Visitors thronged to Plainview to join in a Lakeside Day celebration sponsored by the Junior Chamber of Commerce. Between 4,000 and 5,000 people were estimated to the celebration.
