Dexter teen jailed for shotgun threat

DEXTER — A prank gone bad Sunday night sent a 16-year-old to Many Rivers Regional Juvenile Center in Rochester.

According to the Mower County Sheriff’s Department, a 19-year-old man and three others — ages 14, 17 and 18 — put the 16-year-old’s all-terrain vehicle on top of a picnic table in Dexter Park.

The ATV owner became angry, the report says, and threatened the group with a shotgun.

While the report doesn’t say if the gun was loaded, the 16-year-old allegedly admitted he had overreacted.

Possible charges include second-degree assault, said Sheriff Terese Amazi.
